Re: Jim Keery (Isaac)

Hi
Seen this while searching for a picture of stanley orr. To answer your question stanley is still very much alive but in his 90s. Currently living in an old people's home. He is my grandads uncle and my wee brother is now carrying on the family tradition and has been boxing in to nah boxing club for a number of years now. My uncle Wesley orr who stanley coach is always over at the club cheering on team orr.

Re: Jim Keery (Isaac)

Christina,

I am pleased to hear that Stanley is still alive. I spent little time at his gym, and would not have registered in his memory, but he certainly did in mine.A tough member of a tough family. I also recall Alan or Aaron, who shot a water pistol at me in Market Square. My younger brother thumped him for doing that, and unsurprisingly lost the fight that followed. Now dead, that young brother is remembered by me with pride; Alan/Aaron would understand.

Re: Jim Keery (Isaac)

Barney, Wasn't Stanley Orrs brother Wesley killed while responding to a bomb alarm during the troubles. Then there was their sister Edna Orr, do you ever hear anything about her.??? Mauri

Hi,
I am on doing a bit of digging about my husbands Granda Jackie Willis and came across this post. I did question some of the things I have found on google but meeting Jackie in Newcastle sounds about right!! I am trying to pull together old clippings and pics of Jackie during his time boxing any info would be greatly appreciated. I have found his bouts history for Northern Ireland but know there's more. Thanks Suzanne

No such result reported in 'Boxing'. Probably a duplication of that of 13 October 1951.

Re: Jim Keery (Isaac)

Rodney,
did the family live on Grand Street, Low Road on the corner of " Bap Row"
I remember a Rabbie Keery living there, he kept lots of stuff in his back garden and there was a bird shed also there. My Uncle Ronnie lived next door. 60 years ago, seems like yesterday.
