Lisburn Exiles Forum

(Site is no longer operational pending a major long overdue overhaul of the entire website. Thank you for your patience. Site should still be visible and searchable for old posts.)

The Lisburn Exiles Forum is dedicated to the memory of James Goddard Collins (The Boss) who single-handedly built LISBURN.COM (with a lot of help from many contributors) from 1996 to 29th November 2012. This website was his passion and helping people with a common interest in the City of Lisburn around the world is his lasting legacy.

Re: The Lisburn Italians

Donald, I found your mail in the Trash and have replied to you. I am very careless as regards mail, especially when I had so much after coming back from Donegal. I am inclined to scan them very quickly and delete. I don't usually get anything important so tend to get careless when reading over the mail. Anyhow, I have replied and many thanks for the information. I appreciate it. Donald, everyone will now be wondering what we are on about.!!!!!!

Love this post brings back so many fond memories

Re: The Lisburn Italians

Beano, now don't be jealous or I'll tell Doreen on you. It was all very sad, actually. A mutual friend was buried last week, but Donald wasn't sure if it was the same person we both had met just a couple of years ago. Sadly, it was. In fact, I can give the name of the person we were discussing. It was a former colleague, Tony Stephenson, who worked in the Engineering Dept in Barbour's. I first met him in 1961 when he and I had just commenced work in Hilden; apparently Donald went to the Tech with Tony. Sadly, he was diagnosed with lung cancer in April, so he didn't last too long. May he rest in peace.
