FORUM 18: June Commemorations

Pride Month https://www.loc.gov/lgbt-pride-month/about/ - Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and ***** (LGBTQ) Pride Month is currently celebrated each year in the month of June to honor the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan.
 
National Gun Violence Awareness Month https://www.congress.gov/bill/117th-congress/house-resolution/437/text – calls on all Americans to promote awareness of gun violence and gun safety. Wear orange on June 4th, National Gun Violence Awareness Day, in remembrance of the victims of gun violence.
 
Caribbean American Heritage Month https://caribbeanamericanmonth.com/- recognizes the significance of Caribbean people and their descendants in the history and culture of the United States.
 
June 5  National Cancer Survivor's Day https://ncsd.org/- a CELEBRATION for those who have survived, an INSPIRATOION for those recently diagnosed, a gathering of SUPPORT for families, and an OUTREACH to the community.
 
June 6 D-Day https://www.calendarr.com/united-states/d-day/– the US played a big part in planning and executing the largest invasion by sea, where allied troops landed on the beaches of Normandy in an effort to liberate France from German occupation.

June 16 Father's Day https://www.calendarr.com/united-states/father-s-day/ – a day to commemorate the role fathers and father figures play in people’s lives.
 
June 19 Juneteenth https://www.juneteenth.com/ - is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States.
