Lisburn Exiles Forum

(Site is no longer operational pending a major long overdue overhaul of the entire website. Thank you for your patience. Site should still be visible and searchable for old posts.)

The Lisburn Exiles Forum is dedicated to the memory of James Goddard Collins (The Boss) who single-handedly built LISBURN.COM (with a lot of help from many contributors) from 1996 to 29th November 2012. This website was his passion and helping people with a common interest in the City of Lisburn around the world is his lasting legacy.

Some people cannot shop unless they have a companion. I, however, do not have this problem. Just as well, as all of the family absolutely refuse to accompany me.

1. I take too long

2. I'm too fussy

3. Too many people stop and talk with me.

4 I get cross when I can't find what I'm
looking for.

For the above reasons, and no doubt many more, I shop alone, especially for fashion. I have no trouble knowing what I like and what suits me. What I can or cannot afford is Dominic's problem.

I went into Lisburn today. I had several essentials to buy, including new paint for the garage, and other bits and pieces, plus collecting clothes from the cleaners. After I had all that finished, I decided to have a dander about looking at clothes. (what else?).

I discovered I have dropped a size, which is wonderful. I have been watching my intake of calories of late so it's great to have a result. I, however, am not going to buy a size smaller in case my resolve is abandoned some time in the future.

After touring the shops in the centre of town, I ended up in Menarys where I couldn't resist buying myself a black, jersey maxi dress for travelling to Marbella in August. It only cost £20 so I may buy another one in taupe. The assistant told me she bought three - pink, taupe and black. Purchasing the dress had fed my buying addiction, so I was now in a fashion frenzy. I looked in Kaliko, where I recently purchased several tops. A cream one, in the style I like, was in the sale, so I snapped that up. However, when I brought it home, I found it too loose, so that'll go back tomorrow for a smaller size or a different one. I'm not really dying about the shape of anyhow it when I see it on. I went to another fashion aisle where I once again purchased a nice stripey top in black and pink. On the way out, another stripey top took my eye, this time in black and cream. I bought that too.

God, I'll be like a pedestrian crossing when I arrive in Marbella. I also saw a "to die for" pure silk dress in my exact colours which would be perfect for the wedding. It's too expensive so I have decided to wait until the sale is on, although it may well have gone by then. Too bad if it has.

SO, home again, clothes tried on and those that are being kept have been hung up in the back bedroom until August.

Dinner has been made and is just waiting to be eaten.

Two episodes of Corrie tonight (yippee) plus Emmerdale. What more could I ask for?
