Lisburn Exiles Forum

(Site is no longer operational pending a major long overdue overhaul of the entire website. Thank you for your patience. Site should still be visible and searchable for old posts.)

The Lisburn Exiles Forum is dedicated to the memory of James Goddard Collins (The Boss) who single-handedly built LISBURN.COM (with a lot of help from many contributors) from 1996 to 29th November 2012. This website was his passion and helping people with a common interest in the City of Lisburn around the world is his lasting legacy.

Lisburn 100 motorcycle race 1945

I came across this article by The Digger on the site tonight http://lisburn.com/history/digger/Digger-2011/digger-12-08-2011.html. I didn't know there was a motorcycle race in Lisburn in 1945.

Apparently the Lisburn 100, was on a five mile circuit starting at Ballymacash Primary School, running out towards Glenavy and back. The race was 100 miles, so 20 laps.

I made a map based on the information in the article, see it at the bottom of the page - it may be wrong, but it seems right from my local knowledge. If you know better, let me know!
