Morning Donald, Just as a matter of interest , is this Dachau you mention the area were the camp existed during the war? Hope you enjoy your day out though if your driving it's going to cramp your thirst slightly, I was in Lidl last evening but nothing special in the Beers .

The Concentration Camp is near the Volkfest area. On the entrance gate it says " Arbeit macht Frei" = Work Liberates.Some time ago the gate was stolen and later found in Norway

I have not driven now for 3 weeks as I have to wear a boot because my Achilles left heel is giving me trouble and the specialist says the sinew is not broken, just partly divided and it will take up to 6 weeks to rejoin .Herself drives me around, even up to my local twice a week. I have booked for norniron for September but it looks like I will not be able to go because of hospital appointments in the next weeks, as I bought a economy ticket a refund or a different flight is not possibile

Hi Donald, Sorry to hear about your foot it does sound painful and your travel arrangement's have taken a hit as well, things never come in one's do they ? Re Dachau ! That instant of the gates being stolen I remember well as it was well publicized by the different News Org's ,By coincidence I had the offer early this year to visit Dachau but like yourself situation arose that made it impossible this time, Donald in the meantime keep on taken the tablets

down in Lidl this morning and lo and behold the Perlenbecher Festbier was on sale for 0,39 Euro per half litre!!!! Bought a carton of 24 for 9,36 euro. that is 12 litres compared to 1 litre at the Oktoberfest for 11,50 euros Prosit, Prosit Kamarad

The Oktoberfest started yesterday, watched the Parades yesterday and today on TV, very interesting, bands and national costumes from all over Europe.
May decide to go into it and enjoy a litre of beer.
