(Site is no longer operational pending a major long overdue overhaul of the entire website. Thank you for your patience. Site should still be visible and searchable for old posts.)

The Lisburn Exiles Forum is dedicated to the memory of James Goddard Collins (The Boss) who single-handedly built LISBURN.COM (with a lot of help from many contributors) from 1996 to 29th November 2012. This website was his passion and helping people with a common interest in the City of Lisburn around the world is his lasting legacy.

Big Tom and the Mainliners

Hi All,

So sorry to hear of the death of " Big Tom", not only a great entertainer but a real gentleman. I met him back in the early 60s in the Top Hat and he was brilliant. I met him again just before we left for Canada and had a bit of a chat about emigration. His words to me were "You are a better man than I am Gunga Din",I could never leave the oul sod. One of the first songs I sang with our band out here was Gentle Mother, Big Tom's greatest hit. May he Rest in Peace.
