Lisburn Exiles Forum

(Site is no longer operational pending a major long overdue overhaul of the entire website. Thank you for your patience. Site should still be visible and searchable for old posts.)

The Lisburn Exiles Forum is dedicated to the memory of James Goddard Collins (The Boss) who single-handedly built LISBURN.COM (with a lot of help from many contributors) from 1996 to 29th November 2012. This website was his passion and helping people with a common interest in the City of Lisburn around the world is his lasting legacy.

Re: Fidel

Dear CI,

How we learn, I am old enough to remember when Communism, together with Socialism, was the IN thing to be, only the Christian Churches were against it. Fidel Castro was a Communist Socialist like many others & Russia was the then ideal country for people, all seemingly equal.

Like the Americans now, people got fed up with Governments, hence the uprising of leaders like Fidel Castro, change was required. The change was that he was the Leader & made all the decisions himself. He seems to have had quite a following down the years, right up to his funeral.

I don't know enough to comment on politics in depth, but is seems when these people are up top, they forget what put them there in the first place. It is the same all over this world to this day.

Don't get your knickers in a twist, CI. History will be the Judge. Just look what came out of the cupboards of power, political & otherwise over the years.

Judge not lest we be judged also......Pat
