End of Autumn?

Morning all,

A thick mist covered the fields early this morning, it is lifting now so hopefully the sun will appear later.

Planted bulbs yesterday with Joe having difficulty turning over the hard ditch soil to add bulb fibre. We have the bulbs on a high ditch alongside the front drive & it gets dry & like concrete if no rain for a while.

Joe doesn't like tulips as he says they only last a short while, but I took off the tulip picture on the packet & got my red & pink tulips planted "unknowst "to him. Also snowdrops & daffodils. Have iris to plant in a damp place today along with more daffodils.

We have resorted to bulbs @ shrubs now we are older, as they appear every year, so less bother. Lavender & chrysanthemums are good too, for less bother.

Did you know (in Canada especially) that catmint keeps mosquitoes at bay along with flies etc. Also a bean tree is good in the garden for sitting under, in hot sun, in peace from flies. Just read that recently."not many people know that".

October seems to be going out on a high note this year, this mist is a good sign, have a good day everyone.

Pat

Re: End of Autumn?

Pat, as you know, October has been a beautiful month. We took Tess for a walk today in Lurgan Park and the falling leaves and colours made a most beautiful scene. Tess enjoyed the walk and our daughter brought her dog too. He is boisterous but he and Tess get on well. We took a couple of photos as there may not be many more with Tess. Well enjoy these golden days while they last.
