The Lisburn Exiles Forum is dedicated to the memory of James Goddard Collins (The Boss) who single-handedly built LISBURN.COM (with a lot of help from many contributors) from 1996 to 29th November 2012. This website was his passion and helping people with a common interest in the City of Lisburn around the world is his lasting legacy.

Hilden

Driving down through Hilden village last Sunday, I was surprised to see how well the new town houses have come on. Last time I was down, they were just about starting to build. The town houses are in Bridge Street and run right down to the end of what was the original row. They look really well with brightly painted front doors. The building work isn't finished yet, but I don't know how many more houses are going up or if they are building them in Mill Street too. It will be interesting to see. Anyhow, I'm sure the residents in Grafton Crescent will approve as these houses have opened up Hilden once again from what had been a ghost village. Will keep you posted.

Re: Hilden

Ann,

For me, Hilden will never be the same as when the Mill was working full blast, when the village was alive with characters, when it was a vibrant community.

Hope it comes back to a place of living as it once, was with the people united in village life, everyone knowing everyone, helping each other & a joyous community, as it once was in our day.

Pat
