To Survive
To survive is quite a feat
Skirting near at times defeat
But never minding fear or pain
Or if what happens leaves you stained
By perspiration or your blood
Survivors do it in the mud
With no regrets or looking back
They know that now's left the only fact
Too far ahead is for the dreamers
Maybe also elaborate schemers
Who never knew the fight for life
When breath is balanced like a knife
Today is the only place they stand
With all they fought for in their hands
Without regret, with tear edged eyes
Completes the cross they did despise
To carry on beyond their pale
A survivor lost their power to fail.
