communication

OK! dabbler gives up. Had breakfast, (muesli), lunch,(salmon and salad), had haircut by adored wife, ( sitting shirtless in garden - me, not her), swept up hairs, did some pruning and weeding, vacuumed indoors after her sewing, and still managed to come on here to try to communicate, but left talking to self, as usual. I'll love you and leave you, as my oul mates used to say.

Re: communication

Dabbler,
If I was your wife, I would get her to put u on her braclet yr a gem of a hubby.
My hubby is watering the flowers after sitting out on the patio most of the day. (No patios years ago just
a yard, toilet and coal). Will have to dabble to find out who ur. (Get the pun).

Re: communication

Beano,

Toasted you Beano and yours at Sheila's last night, then thought we had not done it, so toasted u again, and again.
By the way was told to ask u if u knew David Bruce.

Sheila remembers u of course, will tell Kathleen she was ur favourite. She is still as good looking as ever.
Sheila and Kathleen going to Seville (Spain, but I am sure u know where it is) on Thursday lucky them.

Glorious sunshine here all week.

Ann, at her daughters BQ, hope she behaves herself
and does'nt come on the Forum the worst for wear after, with her velcro rollers still in her hair..
I hoping the lady she is, she will be on her p & Q
and not singing at the top of her voice, what with Canadian visitors next door.
Katie.

Re: communication

Dabbler,
Just after looking at some of the old photographs, Sweeny's Smithfield in particular, run years ago by the dad Jim Sweeney, than by Maureen ,now by Sally Sweeney's Son Jim. (Maureen, Lila,Kevin, Sally, Stella all dead Bridie still alive. Remember it used to be a little shop at the front of their house, an entry up to the Megan's or McGanns little cottage then next door McBrides next to that Granny Cunningham's had a shop then posty McKeown's. I am sure u have been told this before.
Isobel Begley a young girl who was a friend of Kitty Molloy's and worked in her shop during summer holidays (she was from Dundalk and a Champion Irish Dancer) is on this Forum.
Thought u would like to know this.
Is T. McKay from Church Street?

Katie

Re: Re: communication

Bridie Sweeney is my best friend since school-days, we had some great times in Lisburn & Lambeg before she married Owen from Glenavy. Surely Stella is NOT dead but her daughter Stella died some years ago, she used to own the baby shop in Railway St. Sad, as her father died too he was Sammy Dowling. Stella still lives on Antrim Rd. I still keep in touch with Bridie.

Re: communication

I'm going to take my long-suffering wife's advice, and mind my own business. She always says, and she's right, that I talk my way into trouble.

Re: communication

Dabbler,

Ach Dabbler, don't be sending us to Coventry.

Katie

I like yourself remember Sweeneys shop as a small house , Ran by Maureen , Rocky , the last time i saw maureen ,she was in a home named Nickolsons on the Antrim Road , and she was not very well .I have sent some photos of Smithfield , and the Lisburn pubs to give Dabbler a bit of a buzz , as he mentioned that he used to buy his sweets in Sweeneys , and had a drink in the bars .

All the best .
Tommy

Katie

Re: communication

Ray,
Yes, how do u know the Mckeowns?, remember ur name from
Lisburn years ago.

Katie

Yes, beautiful morning here, my moto: go to bed late, early to rise.

Katie

Re: communication

Katie,
With all your contacts, my stories on the site, and my email available to you, you would not need to 'dabble' much to find out about me.
I'm not CERTAIN who or what you are, although I have my ideas, but all the cryptic messages are too much for me to handle. As you will be aware, being sent to Coventry refers to an individual, not to a group on a forum, so it is I, :-), who is being sent. One is only ever isolated when one has no support from family, friends, and, perhaps, God. I am sure none of this applies to you, and most definitely not to me. :-)
That you bothered to address me on the forum shows an interest of some sort, for which I thank you. I hope that you have achieved at least part of what you hoped. Give my best regards to all your friends and relations.
Joe

Re: communication

Tom McKay,
Sure I knew Jackie and Jim Campbell, Jackie's daughter is married to Wesley (eyes).
Do u remember helping a damsal in distress,on Piper's Hill one night, another girl and I were running from
two fellows we had met at the Big Hall, the lads were not from Lisburn and we did'nt like them and they followed us, we started to run and so did they, we hid in a doorway in Bow Street thinking they had gone and when we came out, there they were again, we ran like Paula Radcliff she headed for the Low Road, I hid in Piper's Hill, (no lights) which was stupid when I saw my Knight in Shinny Armour TOM I said, hello Tom, and then said Tom will u walk home with me My did I feel safe.
Tom I am sure I thanked you that night, but I thank y
again.
(Ann will know the other girl she also played the piano to march us into class).

Re: Re: communication

Hi Katie, those two fellas had a lucky escape!! Yes, the other girl, I know who you mean. She would have been a quare match for them too. Keep sweetie at home this morning, no excuses out for cigs or bikkies or anything. Get me, 66, get me in my short skirt, what a sight for sore eyes. I thought me wee dogs looked disapprovingly at me. I also have my youngest granddaughter here, sick in bed, so she hasn't noticed my physogue yet. I don't know if this is a real word or an Irish or Ulster Scots term and I haven't time to look up the dictionary but y'all know what I mean. We'll investigate that word at a laater time. I'M AWAY

Re: communication

Hi Katie Stewart.

Many thanks for the info on the barrack st residents, some of the names i remember well , but others are vague. No it was not me on the Dublin Train sorry.Regarding the knight in shining armour story , i cannot remember it , or maybe you have me mixed up with another Tom , i shall have to converse with my best friend Billy (Beono)to see if he has any assistence on this topic . Now you have got me curious. I remember a John Turley in barrick st .
I still do not know who you are , but all best wishes anyhow .

Tommy

Re: communication

Tom,
Yes it was u, I know it was u, do u think I would ask a stranger to walk with me? You were a nice lad very sensible, I knew I was safe with you, u lived near Peg McDonnell your house had a step up to it. I knew yr mother a real lady, ur dad and I think a big brother.
Your hav'nt went down the street very well. Your memory not as good as mine. Maybe I was such a shy girl or u could'nt belive ur luck. My little should ring a bell. Another clue
This is like the Krypton Factor
Katie

Re: communication

Dabbler/Joe,

Sorry, about the meaning of "Coventry" but only got a A1 in English, was so afraid of loosing your craic, and thought yr better half had restricted u on the Forum.
What a shame that would be for everyone.
Still dabbling who ur.
Away to do the cleaning, starting very late to-day.

Katie

Re: communication

Katie, and anybody else interested, the email is there, anytime. Katie, you're right about the better half restricting me, but she won't mind straightforward, honest, emails.
I couldn't hope to match your A level, but I suspect one or two may miss my input.

Re: communication

11.24 am: Off out on my own. You know where I am. Come and get me, you lucky people!

Re: communication

Dabbler, hubby and I will be visiting England in July so don't think you can taunt people to "come and get you". You may be taken up on the offer, so keep the blinds closed.

Re: communication

Dabbler,
Like Ann & Hubby going to London next week, so look out,and watch ur back, we could hit anywhere.

Katie

Re: communication

Back from my wee stroll.
Girls, and your hubbys, it would need to be behind my back. I still pack a fair wallop for a wee one.

Re: communication

Hi Katie Stewart .

I am bamboozled , i remember Peggy , she was usherette in the picture house . Thank you very much for the very kind words , i only hope that i escorted you home safely , and you came to no harm on my part . I always try to treat ladies with respect as best i can in all circumstances .
All best wishes.

Tommy .
