Lisburn Exiles Forum

(Site is no longer operational pending a major long overdue overhaul of the entire website. Thank you for your patience. Site should still be visible and searchable for old posts.)

The Lisburn Exiles Forum is dedicated to the memory of James Goddard Collins (The Boss) who single-handedly built LISBURN.COM (with a lot of help from many contributors) from 1996 to 29th November 2012. This website was his passion and helping people with a common interest in the City of Lisburn around the world is his lasting legacy.

A Changing Time.

A changing time of country @ small town living in Ireland ."First Episode."

We were the children of the, 30's, 40's,@ 50,s, When Rural Ireland tossed the Oil Light @ the Po from under the bed.
Electricity came to being. Modern plumbing replaced the bucket of water from the well or pump. Flush toilets replaced the Po or Chamberpot. The farm tractor replaced the horse.
Our Parents @ Grandparents were in awe and a bit hesitated in the bright new world around them.

Look back with me to when we changed from the old ways to the new,and left behind a world almost forgotten.

To be continued. By an Exile.

Re: A Changing Time.

At the Locks, Lisnatrunk we kept our oil lamp on the mantlepiece, not under the bed.
Donald.
Serious, looking forward to the rest of the story as no doubt are more.
