The Lisburn Exiles Forum is dedicated to the memory of James Goddard Collins (The Boss) who single-handedly built LISBURN.COM (with a lot of help from many contributors) from 1996 to 29th November 2012. This website was his passion and helping people with a common interest in the City of Lisburn around the world is his lasting legacy.

" Druth "

Who remembers the Lisburn expression " druth " for thirsty? It was also used to describe someone who liked the occasional glass of alcohol.
I was listening here to some locals today, talking in their Bavarian dialect and memories of my childhood came flooding back , my Gran, being ashamed tried to disguise her " Norniron " accent when talking to an English or professional person. She often told the story about an English couple who came to holiday at Lockview, Lisnatrunk, upon being greeted by my Great Uncle Ned Watters with "Coorsenite"! asked each other, " What does he mean"?

Re: " Druth "

Anybody know the origin of the word 'Duncher' as a flat cap is commonly called in Belfast?
