Lisburn Exiles Forum

(Site is no longer operational pending a major long overdue overhaul of the entire website. Thank you for your patience. Site should still be visible and searchable for old posts.)

The Lisburn Exiles Forum is dedicated to the memory of James Goddard Collins (The Boss) who single-handedly built LISBURN.COM (with a lot of help from many contributors) from 1996 to 29th November 2012. This website was his passion and helping people with a common interest in the City of Lisburn around the world is his lasting legacy.

"The Lonies"

Come on ,let,s be sentimental and walk down memory lane, who remembers courting around the Lonies?
For those too young to know, the leafy lanes around Lisnatrunk and the tow path which are now fenced off were once accessable to all and were a type of "Lovers Lane" for those from Lisburn, Lowroad and Hilden who had no car or money to go to the Cinema. ( That was all of us). Summer evenings would find couples strolling along Kelly,s hill, the Damm or McConnell,s hill, holding hands and searching for a shady nook to rest. Birds singing, crickets chirping and young men,s fancy turning to love. Those were the days, young, fit and vital with not a care in the world.
