The Lisburn Exiles Forum is dedicated to the memory of James Goddard Collins (The Boss) who single-handedly built LISBURN.COM (with a lot of help from many contributors) from 1996 to 29th November 2012. This website was his passion and helping people with a common interest in the City of Lisburn around the world is his lasting legacy.

Hallo out there
Can anyone tell me more about a lady who lived at the top of Victory St called Alice Goodman I think. A very quiet lady ,a widow as far as I can remember, worked in the examining in Hilden mill and of German origan. Looking back it could have possible she married a British soldier stationed in Germany after the war and returned with him to Northern Ireland. In the fifties it was unusual for foreign citizens to " emigrate " to Lisburn with the exception of Italians of course.
