lost contacts

Hi All, anyone know of anyone from Wm.Foote, circa 1953 or near enough, cannot contact anyone from then, would love to find out about certain people from my old classes. Thanks Fraser. ( ps. lets hope they are still living.)

Re: lost contacts

Cuz. I went to Willie Boote up until 1953ish. Then went to the Tech until 1956(Nov), then to S.B.& H. until Nov'62 when I emigrated to Canada. Was in same classes as Jean Russell, Davy Irvine, Dennis Glover etc.

Re: Re: lost contacts

Robbie, I'm also a "Footie" went there in the early 50's. I remember Davy Irvine I think he was ahead of
me, he married a friend of mine, and she has since passed away. Do you remember the Chestnutt family from the Low road? Muriel was in my class, she had an older sister and brother too. Cannot remember their names. There were also the Reid's, George was in my class, he had an older sister, but her name escapes me. How about Samuel Braithwaite? almost forgot about him. I wonder what happened to all those "Footies"

Re: Re: Re: lost contacts

I seem to remember a Mervyn and Daphne Chestnut. Daphne was an Irish dancer. Was Sammy Braithwaite from Millbook? That's where I started out life.

Re: lost contacts

Robbie, I think you are correct, I'm not really sure where Braithwaite was from, but according to my sister he's still around town. Vera Mclatchy Gwendolyn Doory and I were friends. Vera and I still stay in touch. Mr. Nelson was our favorite teacher. I do have a class picture somewhere of just the girls from the 4th grade.

Re: Re: lost contacts

I don't remember a teacher named Nelson. I do remember Andy Norris teaching 4th standard in the classroom across the playground from the main building. He rode to school on a tiny (for him) Royal Enfield motorbike. Can you ever forget Davy Leinster and the way he used the cane? Jimmy Wells was the Principal then.

Re: Re: Re: lost contacts

Davy Lienster was mean, I remember some of the canings the boys got, but I had a lot of respect for him, I liked him as a teacher. Miss Uprichard taught 3rd, I could'nt wait to get out of her class. Andy Norris was pretty mean too, I'll never forget one time we went to Wallace Park for some kind of games, the sole of his shoe was hanging off and every step he took it would flap. We were all laughing so hard and trying not to be so obvious about it because we knew what the punishment would be the next day. He also taught a class in Wallace Park at some building, I think it was the senior class. Do you have a copy of the book on the history of the school? There are some pictures in it of the teachers we knew. Sylvia

Re: Re: Re: Re: lost contacts

I don't have a copy of the book but I look at it through the 'Lisburn's books menu' on this website.
Next time I'm home I will pick up a copy.
