The Lisburn Exiles Forum is dedicated to the memory of James Goddard Collins (The Boss) who single-handedly built LISBURN.COM (with a lot of help from many contributors) from 1996 to 29th November 2012. This website was his passion and helping people with a common interest in the City of Lisburn around the world is his lasting legacy.

The Gas Works

How many remember the gas works? You could buy coke and tar by the bucketfull . I heard an old remedy for whooping cough for children was to hold them in the oven and have them breathe the fumes!!!!

off in the morning
i remember the gasworks as a place the kids from mckeown street and parts of antrim street use to do " messages " for the neighbours and family and take our "guiders" down the hill to wheel home the bags of coke tom
