Darren Nelson Checks in This message was left on the Crownflats Friends Reunited Account: Happy days of playing football and "run outs" with my brother Paul and our Crown flat friends Terry, Alan, Chris, Clive, Mickey, Kevin, David, etc. and on a Saturday learning new football skills from some bigger boys on the School playground. Currently running Thai food business with my Thai wife. Stopped playing football at around 37ish. Now have creaky joints.
Hi Darren I was one of those 'Bigger Boys'. It was around 1969/70 that we'd wait for the caretaker of Christchurch Mr Burnham, to open the playground gates, usually on a Saturday morning. I remember going across to the shops opposite and buying packets of salt so we could melt the ice and play football in the winter. I do remember you and your brother Paul. You must have only been about 7 and Paul a couple of years older. I used to have to 'lean on' him to get the ball off him! I knew he would do well later on. Take care Darren Regards John
