What to do? PSMA shows PC recurrence in bed of gland. But already
had HIFU which failed, and then 2 years later High Dose HDR (bracytherapy) so
after 5 years it is back!
Please help - I am posting as I want to get your opinions to help in this situation for my husband. You are all so brave and this forum is a wonderful way to share actual experiences with conquering this persistent disease. I would really appreciate hearing from someone who has had HD Brachytherapy 2 rounds of the targeted radiation and what you did when you had recurrence. Thank you.
Judy, you task us with a difficult problem. I try hard NOT to offer any advice on the subject of what to do next but to give folks a bit of assurance and possibly some new direction to look at. Sorry to hear of your predicament and being a victim and not a medical expert, I am not much help to you. I know different type treatments allow only certain types of follow up treatment until one runs out of good options. At some point, one is looking at what I think they call palliative (?) treatment which is basically treatment to stop or slow the progress but not considered curative. Many end up in this position and I think that will be my next option should mine return also. I have had surgery and radiation. Any more radiation is out of the question as they give the maximum dose there and any more radiation would be harmful. Surgery after radiation is said to not be an option either due to the effects of radiation. Some form of hormone treatment may be the next move for you folks. Your urologist of course is your best advisor in any case.
I know I have been no help but getting an answer to your inquiry is sometimes a comfort knowing there are others who care what you are experiencing. Sorry no one else has answered but it is maybe because no one felt they had any helpful info to share. By now you may have decided on a course of action and whatever path you take, best wished in success. Jon.
