Re: Anyone have experience with orchiectomy?

This will be of little help to you I am sure but first, sorry to hear of your diagnosis. From the little info you gave it appears you have an aggressive cancer that needs attention. That being said, do not be hasty in making decisions about treatment. Get as much input as you can from different (knowledgeable) sources who might have differing opinions. While it is true that this treatment is the easiest, cheapest, and most effective over chemical castration, it may not be the best choice for you. I notice not many choose that way to go - for obvious reasons. I am guessing that for some reason surgery or radiation has not been thought of as a course to take. If the node is close and even with seminal invasion, that alone does not seem like it would rule out such treatments. (I had seminal invasion and since they also take that out with surgery, I am so far clear after seven years.) Hormone treatment may cost more and isn't much fun but it might give you the time you need to make the right decision for YOU. It is reversible if you decide on a different course of treatment. All this just my opinion so go with caution and seek more professional opinions before making any quick decisions. Talk with some others who treat this cancer, urologist, radiologist etc. Jon R.
