Re: PSA blood test .

Mark Freedkin
Hello Yoram,

Welcome to this forum, and thank you for posting your story on YANA.

There are many opinions, but a good rule is to begin having a PSA test around age 40 to establish a baseline. As we age, it is natural for the PSA to increase somewhat. However, the rate at which is it increasing is more important than the actual reading. Getting a PSA every year after age 40 provides a good history to map any significant changes. Any value over 4.0 ng/ml is considered significant and worthy of a more detailed evaluation, such as a scan or biopsy.

Best Regards,
Mark
Hi Mark .
That's exactly what I think, but in Israel you are sent to a PSA test only after a problem has been encountered in the prostate and sometimes it is too late.
Thank You Very Much.
Yoram
