Re: UTI - should I be worried?

Hey Johnny:
There is nothing in your write-up that is particularly indicative of prostate cancer--- in this layman's judgement.
At age 46 it may not be too soon to have a PSA run from time to time. A normal PSA would enable you and your physician to rule out prostate cancer and provide a benchmark for future reference.
Best wishes Don O.

Re: UTI - should I be worried?

I speak to quite a few people about testing for PC & age for testing.
Recently at a function a 48 year old gent said my psa test was 7.6 .
PSA testing every 1 or 2 years at least gives you a bench mark so you have a warning if some thing is a miss.
testing in Aust is recomended at 50 but from peolpe I have spoken to it should be lower
regards Bob

Re: UTI - should I be worried?

John; I agree with Don. You do yourself no service by "overthinking" this. You are correct that many of us had no symptoms of our cancer, it is a stealthy disease. Though it is possible to get it at your age, do not become paranoid about it. Get your PSA checked and at each physical, as an exercise to establish a base line so you have a more accurate way to monitor it for future reference. Good that you are on guard and aware but don't read trouble into every ache and pain you get for your own peace of mind. As one gets older, those things become more prevalent and can cause one to worry when there may not be cause..) An enlarged gland at your age is not uncommon. You seem aware enough of the risk of cancer to keep a watch for it and that is one step ahead of a lot of us that have been through it. Best wishes for you to not join this club! Jon R.
