Re: Breakthrough in Prostate Cancer Imaging

This sounds like great news. Does this mean treatment will be more accurate and can be aimed at definite cancer pockets instead of having to use the shotgun method hoping to hit the right target but also doing a lot of collateral damage? Would it mean that instead of hearing, "You have a bit of cancer left "somewhere" but we don't know where." you might hear, "You have a bit of cancer left and we know exactly where it is and can kill it." ?

Why is it that the US always seems to be at the tail end of these discoveries and the last to make them available? Jon.

Re: Breakthrough in Prostate Cancer Imaging

Hi Jon-

Yes, it appears it will greatly help in decisions on treatment, locating pockets, and find cancer remaining after treatment. Both Martin G. Pomper, M.D., Ph.D., and William R. Brody Professor of Radiology and Director are at Johns Hopkins -

It appears Europe has developed imaging similar to PSMA.

As long as improved cancer imaging and treatments are developed I don't care which country did it first.

Bob

Re: Breakthrough in Prostate Cancer Imaging

You are correct Bob. It just seems like the US is very conservative in allowing new discoveries to be available in this country. I suppose it is for safety sake but a little more urgency in dealing with new discoveries might help a lot of people. Jon.
