One year - need some support

My husband was diagnosed with Advanced prostate Ca with bone metsin May 2015. PSA=60 Gleason score 9/12 = 8 3/12 = 9 T3N0M1. Hot spots left hip mid spine and ribs. Has received radiation to those spots, also ADT with Firmagon and Lupron, just completed early chemo intervention with Docataxel x 6 treatments. Remains mobile, survived chemo with only one incidence of dehydration, blood counts remained good. No post therapy scans unless (until) he has additional symptoms. Pain remains manageable with NSAIDS. Weaned off po steroids last week. Now I am noticing some swelling in his feet and legs. I am a nurse, so I research way too much, but I just need some support and info from you guys as to what you experienced with advanced diagnosis. Thank you, in advance, from North Carolina.

Re: One year - need some support

Gigi,

I don't have advanced disease (yet) but here are a few suggestions. Have you checked to see if there are any prostate cancer support groups in your area? Some support groups also have an advanced cancer sub group. Try to have your husband exercising as much as possible. One of the tricks to staying alive seems to be being fit enough to take the next drug/treatment.
