Re: Lupron an increase in blood pressure

Roberta,

I don't think there's a direct link between ADT and BP increases, but there is a tendency for weight to be gained whilst having the testosterone driven out of one's system. With careful attention to diet and exercise there is no need for this to remain a problem once it is recognised. Extra weight does increase BP so might it be this? Again, we PCa survivors are prone to anxiety peaks when testing time comes around and this can elevate BP. Might this be an issue?

I have hypertension (very well controlled by three little pills a day) and find that checking my BP at home (no risk of white coats!) at about the same time in the evening when I'm relaxed gives me the desirable "at rest" reading. Sometimes when I've rushed to a GP's surgery, even with a couple of minutes rest beforehand, the reading can be slightly elevated. I now email my readings to my GP to meet his wish for regular reviews. That seems to keep him at bay!

Good Luck

Re: Lupron an increase in blood pressure

Thanks for your response.
John doesn't 't get upset about seeing his oncologist.
They seem to have a good relationship.
Have been checking the BP and it does seem to go up after he has a flash.
He is tolerating the hot and cold flashes
I am concerned that the BP could be a problem
One of the side effects is Cardiovascular problems
He is on Benicar 40/12.5 daily and Metoprolol 25 twice a day
That had been working until now
Guess we will just have to wait and see
Dr said the flashes might diminish some as time goes on
John exercises at the gym and has not gained any weight
Just a mystery
