Recently, in the Dutch press, an article appeared on PC treatment with Radium-223 Chloride for PC sufferers with bone metastasis.
Apparently it is injected once a month for 6 months and tends to add 4 to 6 months to your life.
The big advantage, according to the oncologist who advocates this treatment, is that it lacks the unwanted side effects of Chemotherapy.
It acts like Calcium and settles in the bones and slows the growth of metastasis.
Up to now 4 patients have been injected, but it is expected to treat up to 1000 patients a year in 10 licensed hospitals.
Has anyone heard of this kind of treatment before?

This was approved by the FDA in the USA in May last year- go along to THE "NEW" PROSTATE CANCER INFOLINK . There are a number of articles on this link but you might also like to search for yourself for references to Xofigo which is tyhe registered trademark for this therapy.
You might also want to look up the drug under the name alpharadin which is the name used in the initial animal studies that show myelofibrosis, enlarged spleen, and increased intracranial hematopoiesis as outcomes. Jo
My husband became quite ill within one hour of his one and only dose. He'd been fully functioning and pain free for 7 years although his PCa was considered aggressive and he had wide spread bone mets. He had severe pain and nausea and lost 30 pounds in 3 weeks and became too weak to stand or sit up. With intensive physical therapy he was able to walk with arcane for very short distances until he relapsed again two months after the treatment. He developed a bleed in his small intestine and bladder infection and never recovered. He died on December 2nd from acute GI bleed and bronchopneumonia. Jo
