I would like to post information about a radiation protocol which does not seem to be on this site. It is known as triple therapy, and consists of ADT begun a month before and continued through a combination of beam and seed radiation. It provides much higher cure rates for high grade tumors than any other approach. In my case, my probability of cure by surgery was 40%; with triple therapy, 80-90%! So I think it is vital to add this to the list of treatment options on this site.
I am a retired physician who was diagnosed with a Gleason 9 tumor. I learned of triple therapy in the course of a pretty extensive study of the medical literature on prostate cancer. It is standard practice at university hospitals, yet it seems to be little known (or at least mentioned) outside the academic community.
Problem: I have not been able to figure out how to post this information where it will be seen by people considering treatment options, presumably under Treatment Choices. Can anyone tell me how to do this?
There are at least 15 members of Yana who made the Brachytherapy/EBRT/ADT choice and who shared their stories. They can be accessed by going to TREATMENT EXPERIENCES and then gpoing to the Contributor's Stories selecting Brachytherapy as the Category of Therapy from the drop down menu and Seed Implant with EB and ADT from the detailed Category of Therapy.
When I wrote the section on adjuvant therapies combined with ADT I was unable to find good long term studies that demonstrated the clear values that Dr BrookeJ mentioned and I have asked him if he could provide the relevant references so that I can incoorporate these in the site.
