Rising PSA After Proton Treatment

It's been one year since I finished Proton treatment for PC. My original PSA was 4.0 with a 6 Gleason. Six months after treatment, PSA was at .7, 10 month check was .9. Just got the results back from 1 year check & PSA jumped in 2 months to 5.1. Heading to see the Dr.'s in next few days. Hoping is it just some inflamation. Anyone ever experience this type of short term increase? Thanks.

Re: Rising PSA After Proton Treatment

I assume nothing was done to stimulate the prostate, such as a DRE or sex the night before a PSA was drawn. For some DREs they recommend waiting 2 weeks before having a PSA.

I would hope they would redo the PSA also.

Is it possible that it is prostatitis?

Wishing you the best

JV
I have wrestled with this issue for roughly two years now and have fully documented my experience in an ongoing journal; see http://protondon.blogspot.com/ My guess is that you will find some of the information contained therein helpful. Once you have taken a look, I will be happy to answer any questions you may have and will be available to assist in any way I can.
Best wishes Don O.
