Re: New ebook out now, by Dr. Stephen Strum (oncologist-extraordinare)

Just read the book.
I am very interested in Critical Concept # 6 regarding Androgen Receptor, specifically Figure 24. Is it possible to use a cocktail of medicine to slow down the progression of PCa? If yes, what specilist would be willing to prescribe such?

Akai.

Re: Using ADT to manage PCa - was New e-book out now.....

Akai,

As Dr Strum says It is conceivable that we can alter the tumor cell population so that prostate cancer is turned into an indolent disease that men can outlive. This indeed may be what happens when we believe we have cured a malignancy-- we simply have established a balance or homeostasis between the host and the cancer— essentially peaceful co-existence.

The problem is that there are very few doctors who will try this, using existing drugs and medication because there are no studies to demonstrate whether it is effective to do so. The two druges to which Dr Strum refers in Figure 24 were approved by FDA on the basis of studies involving men with advanced prostate cancer whose conventional treatment had failed.

There was a long discussion on the use of ADT to perhaps manage PCa in 2009 and reading it may give you some ideas to pursue. It is at Neo-Adjuvant PSA drop In passing the man who started the discussion tells his story here - DAVID PRICE.

Good luck
