  • No harvesting e-mail addresses for Spam;
  • No insults or flaming - be polite and respectful at all times and understand that there may be a variety of points of view, all of which may have some validity;

Please help with this research if you qualify

I don’t usually post or allow messages about research projects because there are so many, but believe this is a special exception because of the circumstances that led to the project.

Deborah H. Smith is undertaking research for a dissertation to be submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology – Transpersonal Concentration Institute of Transpersonal Psychology Palo Alto, California.

She has asked me to post this as she would like to speak to approximately six heterosexual couples who have experienced the disruption to their lives following a diagnosis of prostate cancer. The people should be between the ages of 50 to 65, married for 10 years or more and have chosen surgery.

The purpose of this research will be to offer an account of their journey and triumph.The narrative design of the study will include a description of the sexual, psychological, and spiritual attributes of their marriages and how those attributes might potentially, and/or did, contribute to healing and a continuation of their marital intimacy and well-being after prostate cancer surgery.

Deborah is based in Virginia and would be willing to travel or do interviews by Skype. She expects that the interview would take approximately two hours. Her husband was diagnosed and elected radical prostatectomy about five years ago so is very aware of the challenges of maintaining marital well-being.

If you meet her criteria and feel you can help Deborah in this important research, please mail her deborahsmith751@yahoo.com or call her at 804-240-3774

All the best
