A friend has said he will be having monotherapy with "
a very expensive daily pill" to preserve some of his sexual function. This sounds to me like monotherapy with Zytiga. I understood Zytiga to approved for use only with a primary androgen suppressor (agonist or antagonist). Is anyone aware of this use and more importantly, is anyone on it? When I suggested this route to the urologist two years ago (with high dose Casodex then) he said "oh no, that's associated with rapid progression of castrate-resistant PCa.
As I undertand the US regulation, once a drug or procedure has FDA approval it can be used "off list" for purpoes outside the limits of the trial studies upong which the FDA approval was made. This may be what your friend's doctor is doing.
