herina

A couple of members of a cancer awareness group I belong to have had developed hernias after having an RP. Is this a common side effect of RP . thanks Bob

Re: herina

Bob,

If you go to the Website by clicking the link above and enter inguinal hernia into the Site Search Engine you will find a number of men who have developed this condition after surgery.

From what I have read it is a fairly common side effect, althogh there is a view that it is not really more common in men who have had surgery than in men who have not had surgery. As with so much in our PCa world, you can find studies that support both views.

All the best

Re: herina

I discovered a lump in my groin when the swelling went down after my Da Vinci. None of my doctors thought it was a hernia. I finally went to a surgeon who specialized in hernia repair and he recognized it right away. It took two surgeries to finally fix it.
A friend of mine also developed a hernia right after a different abdominal laparoscopic procedure. I think anytime they pump up your abdomen you are at risk of getting a hernia. It seems to be just another side effect that they don't tell you about.

Re: herina

Thanks for the info ,it came up in casual talks & nobody seemed to know anything . Low psa to all Bob
