4th Stage Prostate Cancer

After PSA,biopsy results and bone scan doctors suggested that its 4th stage of Prostate Cancer to my dad. He is 74 years and he was OK till 28th December and suddenly on 02nd Jan we got this news. It was a big shock for our family. After getting surgery done to remove testicles doctors have started Hormone Therapy using Anti-androgen tablets and giving 01 bone strengthening injection every month. I want to get 02nd opinion in Brisbane. Can I get any contact details where I can show all reports and ask for another opinion? Any info on this matter will be highly appreciated.

Re: 4th Stage Prostate Cancer

Sorry to hear about your father's diagnosis, Sandy.

What you have set out is a failry normal approach for a T4 prostate cancer diagnosis, although in most cases in the US, the orchidectomy surgery is not performed, with more reliance being placed on the drugs used to suppress the production of testosterone.

I can't give you any specific person from whom you might get a second opinion, but I am sure that your father's GP will be able to give you a referral.

All the best

Terry
