Does ADT/Lupron reduce vitamin d levels ?

Does taking lupron reduce vitamin d levels in itself ? I have read it can have effect to lessen bone density and/or muscle mass,
but don't know if it would also reduce
vitamin d (or calicum) in itself.

Am asking since am taking extra vitamin d now before adt due to borderline osteoporosis already, and wondering if need to take even more vitamin d after lupron starts.

I realize will need to increase or at least keep up with exercise to try to combat the bone/muscle wasting effects
and also do not want to take the bone medicines at this time unless readings get even worse while on adt.

Re: Does ADT/Lupron reduce vitamin d levels ?

My experience was that ADT might have caused some osteopenia, but the Dr said not to worry. I take D with Calcium now.

I warn you to keep up with the exercising and try to keep your weight down from the start of ADT. I was out of my town for IMRT for 8 weeks and also on Zoladex and I gained 20 lbs and lost most of my strength because there was no gym to use. It took me 2 years after the last hormone shot to drop the weight and gain back some strength.
