Re: Inginal Hernia after prostatectomy

For what its worth about 25% of men will get an inginal hernia during there life time so it may not be because of the surgery. If it is from the surgery wound then its called an incisional hernia; I've got one of those.

Re: Inginal Hernia after prostatectomy

Ron, whatever the cause, get it checked to confirm. If it is a hernia, get it repaired. A short surgery, then home with a bit of discomfort for a couple of days. It'll just get worse if nothing is done.

Re: Inginal Hernia after prostatectomy

I had my Robotic Assisted Laparoscopic Prostatectomy December of 2009. This past October I was diagnosed with a left Inguinal Hernia. I had it fixed in December 2010. I had an open procedure instead of laproscopic, the surgeon recommended this procedure as it had a lower percentage of recurrence. For about the 1st week it was actually more painful than the Prostectomy.
