Updates and New Entries

Clearly everyone is back on deck after their summer holidays and catching up with their e-mails because I have had a flood of updates and some new experiences posted. I’ve caught up as well as I have been able – I haven’t processed entries received since Saturday last week but should be able to get those done in the next few days. If you sent in your entry before then and I have not acknowledged it, please mail me at terryherbert42@gmail.com

UPDATES FROM MEMBERS

LEN AIREY Silver member happy with the outcome of his RP (Radical Prostatectomy) five years ago. [I always think this story of Len’s is a prime example of the value of the anecdotal material on the Yana site (and other sites), which is denigrated by the ‘scientists’ who say only published studies have any value. It tells how his surgeon discovered a better method of dealing with his stricture after contacting the US surgeon of another Yana member who had a similar problem

PAUL MCARTHUR Silver member with a bit of a different problem – he believed the predictions that he would die within five years after his RP (Radical Prostatectomy) and he hasn’t

STEVE PITTELMAN two years after Brachytherapy he has no side effects but may be experiencing a PSA ‘bounce’

TED LARRISON although he has urgency and ED issues his PSA is undetectable two years after RALP (Robotic Assisted Laparoscopic Prostatectomy) and he’s enjoying life

B H two years after RALP (Robotic Assisted Laparoscopic Surgery) some urinary issues no ED problems, no PSA

MIKE BASS 20 months after RALP (Robotic Assisted Laparoscopic Prostatectomy) only problem is mild Peyronie’s Disease

BILL RAU long time ‘cyberpal’and Yana supporter Gold Three Star member diagnosed in 1997 counts his blessings thirteen years after his HDR (High Dose Radiation Brachytherapy)

RON M twelve months after RP (Radical Prostatectomy) has some leakage and ED problems

MEL PANTHERSFAN still happy with his choice of PBT (Proton Beam Therapy) in Florida

TOM C chose Brachytherapy and has hit his nadir of 0.17 ng/ml after two and a half years

BOB W PSA still heading down after Brachytherapy

REG B has had a satisfactory drop in PSA – down to 6.0 from diagnosis level of 1,400.0 – from combined ADT (Androgen Deprivation Therapy)/Chemotherapy

DAVE CURTIS an enlightening report on his a penile implant for ED following RALP (Robotic Assisted Laparoscopic Prostatectomy)

TIMOTHY HOTUJEC Silver member was on a Lupron holiday after failed RP (Radical Prostatectomy)but a PSA rise to 0.50 will get him back on

CHRIS B chose RALP (Robotic Assisted Laparoscopic Prostatectomy) in July and has no ED or continence issues

ERIC CORDINGLEY has chosen Active Surveillance after further tests indicated his diagnosis was not an aggressive form of the disease

RICHARD VANCE a saturation biopsy identified one positive core of GS 6 disease leading to a choice of PBT (Proton Beam Therapy) for which his insurers will not pay so he has put his house on the market

TOM Z has decided that RALP (Robotic Assisted Laparoscopic Surgery) is for him but is worried about side effects

ALAN EVANS PSA dropping nicely after his Brachytherapy and Testosterone rising after his adjuvant ADT (Androgen Deprivation Therapy).

DAVID F007 has had an undetectable three month PSA after RALP (Robotic Assisted Laparoscopic Prostatectomy) – sexual function ‘pretty good’

DAVID MANSFIELD maintaining his position as the most terse entry on Yana – he has had HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound)

GOVIND SHARMA another succinct report – has completed PBT (Proton Beam Therapy), presumably at Loma Linda

EDWARD RUMIK chose RALP (Robotic Assisted Laparoscopic Prostatectomy) in July – so far so good

AL DILGER has finally decided on HDR (High Dose Radiation Brachytherapy) at UCLA

CHARLES NO no incontinence or ED problems two and a half years after RALP (Robotic Assisted Laparoscopic Prostatectomy) but has a variable PSA

HUGH ARMITAGE continues to enjoy life after his PBT (Proton Beam Therapy) at Loma Linda in May 2009

ALBERT PUGH diagnosed with a GS 9 tumour in 2006 he had RP (Radical Prostatectomy), EBRT (External Beam Radiation Treatment) and ADT (Androgen Deprivation Therapy) before becoming androgen independent when he started on a chemotherapy regimen which has his PSA down low

RICK DANCER enthusiastically endorses his Calypso® choice three months after completion

TERRY C our only member in Beijing has rejected PBT (Proton Beam Therapy) for the moment and has taken the Active Surveillance route

TOM KEATING a second biopsy, after taking Avodart found no significant disease so he is now on Active Surveillance

RICHARD HINTERMEYER Pam brings us up to date with Richard’s PSA slowly rising during his ADT (Androgen Deprivation Therapy) holiday
