Re: When ADT fails...

I am sure you are right Terry but I am pragmatist enough to not expect a good news outcome. My history with this disease has not encouraged positive results.
WHEN MY PSA WAS 4.4 MY DOCTOR SAID IT WAS NORMAL FOR SOMEONE MY AGE, NOT TO WORRY.
WHEN TWO YEARS LATER IT BECAME 17.1 HE SAID IT IS LIKELY BPH, NOT TO WORRY.
WHEN ANTIBIOTICS DID NOT WORK AND PSA BECAME 20.2 THE UROLOGIST SAID IT IS LIKELY NOT CANCER, NOT TO WORRY.
WHEN THE BIOPSY INDICATED A GLEASON 8 THE UROLOGIST SAID I WOULD HAVE TO DECIDE UPON A TREATMENT METHOD, BUT NOT TO WORRY.
WHEN I DECIDED UPON RADIOLOGY AND MET WITH THE ONCOLOGIST HE SAID HE WOULD PROBABLY BE ABLE TO CURE MY PROBLEM, NOT TO WORRY.
WHEN THE INTENSITY MODULATED RADIATION THERAPY DID NOT WORK AND MY PSA BECAME 17.95 AND 52.38 AND ADT-LITE [THREE BICALUTAMIDE AND ONE DUTASTERIDE DAILY] FINALLY REDUCED IT TO 10.41, DOCTORS SAID THAT MY CANCER WOULD LIKELY STAY IN REMISSION FOR SEVERAL YEARS, NOT TO WORRY.
THREE MONTHS LATER IT JUMPED TO 38 AND THEN TO 40.
Already a member of the EBRT section of the CHB forum I have posted a similar query there and likely Chuck Maack will respond.
Many thanks for your good wishes.

Re: When ADT fails...

On the PCRI website you can order for free a DVD set from Dr Scholz and Dr Lam on Hormone refractorary PC. They are very informative.

Re: When ADT fails...

John,
I appreciate the information concerning the DVD's I had not heard anything about them. Will order right away.

Re: When ADT fails...

Patrick:
It has been my life experience that when someone says "Don't Worry" they really mean they do not want to hear me talk about it. I am free to worry if I wish, as long as it is out of their presence.

Re: When ADT fails...

I've certainly have had a lot of "Well you've only got a small chance that it is...." only to move on down the line to a more serious situation.

I did have one oncologist say "Urologist are always too optimistic, just get the radiation and hormone treatment now, you're going to need it". I switched radiation oncologists because I thought she seemed too defeatist so I guess the doctors can't win no matter what they say.

Re: When ADT fails...

Search and you can find many other drug choices, that are never mentioned by uro docs and maybe not by most onco-docs. World of difference as I have done such and know factually. Glad I quit ADT3 after 2 yrs. and fired my onco-doc in 2005.
