Ketoconozole -

Dr agreed to put me on Ketoconozole. she is very hesitant. If you have tried this, please share your experience.

Re: Ketoconozole -

Is your doctor concerned about side effects/toxicity? Often the low-dose Keto is a good option - my husband has been on low-dose Keto (200 mg 3xday) since July 2008 with very good results. Liver function tests have been normal. He also takes Hydrocortisone 30 mg per day. His PSA has fallen lower on this treatment than any other. Has fluctuated a bit lately - recently added Avodart into the mix which seems to be keeping things in check. He has not had chemo but will probably be our next step when Keto is no longer effective.

Good luck,
Sharon

Re: Ketoconozole -

Yes. Her main concern is the side effects. does your husband take keto with another medication? she gave us a prescription with another drug that apparently is taken in conjunction with keto. Oh, and also med for nausea etc.,,,
Thanks Sharon-

Re: Ketoconozole -

Yes, he does take the Keto with Hydrocortisone. It is important to take the Keto on an empty stomach and avoid anything that would interfere with absorbtion such as antacids. If your doctor is concerned about side effects with high-dose Keto you may want to ask if the low-dose might be just as effective. (200 mg 3xday).

Take care,
Sharon
