casodex

Two weeks ago i was taken off of flutomide and put on casodex, my results show an increase in psa?? is two weeks long enough for the drug to take effect? psa on flutomide 3.5, 6.6 > casodex 7.2

Re: casodex

cosidex is usually prescribed for advanced PCa and has various side effects (dosn't all PCa medication).
I was on Cosedex for about 3 years, after my PCa went into the advanced stage. Last October I discontinued taking Cosidex after it failed to work and my PSA started to rise again and I was referred to a Medical oncologist for chemo. The oncologist did not recommend chemo, but suggested that I apply to take part in a trial for the drug Abiraterone Acitate plus prednisone.

What other medication are you on? Like all drugs, everybody is different as to how soon they start to work and what side effects they will endure.

Give it about a month and the if your PSA keeps rising, contact your oncologist for further information.

Good Luck.

Re: casodex

I was on flutomide and lupron, but psa started rising and i am now on casodex. how is the abireterone (sp) going? I have heard wonders about it.

Re: casodex

I havent started the trail yet, have to get all the cosodex out of my system, thats taken a while, see onc on thur 27 for blood works etc. then should start the trial 2 weeks after that.

After having been taken off of flutamide you should have waited for a few weeks to see if there is an anti-androgen withdrawal response before starting with casodex.
