Re: How Much Pomegranate?

Take the extract pills, they are much cheaper and contain more of the active ingrediants. They can be found on the internet, Pom Wonderful, or The Life Extension site or most health food sites,

Re: How Much Pomegranate?

I don't think the comments here truly resolve anything because I've seen so many differing products. I believe the study which showed the efficacy of pomegranate was based on 8oz per day. But 8oz of exactly what? Pure squeezed juice?

When you buy a bottle of the juice you can read that it is usually reconstituted from concentrate. But that does not tell you how watered it is, nor how concentrated the original was. At the same supermarket I have seen different brands where one is more than twice the price of another of the same size. And you can see the difference in color.

In recent months I've bought the Naturally Pomegranate in Costco, from Agro Labs. This is a concentrate and contains 32fl oz, just short of a liter. They recommend 1 oz daily, so this would last for a month and it costs me about $18. I don't measure so I typically get about 3 weeks out of a bottle. But of course I have no idea if this is about the same as the 8 fluid ounce recommendation. The bottle says one ounce has the antioxidant equivalent of eating 15 whole pomegranates.

As you can see, I also have no clear answer to the question. But I drink it daily without fail.
