Re: POST IMRT PSA RESULTS

Terry, thanks for your opinion and advice.I do plan on getting another PSA done next month. One thing I didn't mention in my original message is that I did get one shot of Lupron 4 months prior to starting the IMRT treatments. The Lupron was to reduce the size of my prostate to do a seed implant.Unfortunately they determined that my anatomy was not what they would consider condusive to reaching all areas with the seeds.Do you think one shot of Lupron could have had more of an affect than the treatments?
THANKS AGAIN, PHIL

P.S. Don't ever listen to anyone who tries to tell you this site isn't a great source of info for guys like me.This site was instrumental in assisting me to make the decision to go with IMRT an I will never regret that decision.

Re: POST IMRT PSA RESULTS

Aha! That's what I meant by referring to the possibility of neo-adjuvant ADT, which is what you had.

It would most likely be the Lupron that knocked down your PSA so quickly. If you only had one shot, then the effect will likely wear off between now and your next PSA, so don't be too surprised (or worried) if your next PSA is higher again.

All the best

Re: POST IMRT PSA RESULTS

Hi Phil,
Well yes it does seem highly unusual, perhaps even maybe a lab error (it does happen). Plus 3 month post treatment PSA check is the norm. I guess if I were in your situation, I would be a tad sceptical. Let us know how you get on at the 3 month check.

Re: POST IMRT PSA RESULTS

Thanks for your reply. I plan to get another PSA in a month.I don't know how I will react if the results are considerably different. It would seem to me that something this important would be checked and double checked before the results were given to a patient. My rad oncologist has a PHD ( which doesn't necessarily mean anything), but he didn't seem surprised at my low PSA level.
THANKS AGAIN, PHIL
