Two Worries: Two questions

GABE G says he has had trouble in posting this message:

My PSAs have been good at .01 and my DaVinci surgery was March of 09.

I have begun feeling foot pain at the bottom of both feet under the toes with some leg weakness and sometimes I feel pain in my shin or hip although my PSAs are good.. should I be worrying?

Also, I will need inguinal hernia surgery on the right side and maybe the left side down the line although I would like to get both sides over with. The reason I am worried about the hernia surgery is I fear that it will further harm my hopefully recovering nerves....anything to this?

I look forward to your views and hope I am just being paranoid.

Re: Two Worries: Two questions

Gabe,
I think I can be encouraging to both of your questions.

I had DaVinci surgery in July 2007 and had an inguinal hernia repair at the end of December 2007. And no bad consequences. My urologist just told me to advise the hernia surgeon of my recent intervention. And he said it was ok because the locations are far enough apart even though they seemed pretty close to me.

On the foot pains, I'm sure you are concerned that there could be some cancer still alive on the nerve sheaths that communicate with your pain locations. I had numerous concerns of this nature, but I also have had a history of back issues, especially lower back. So unless you are sure that there is no back related issue going on for you, I expect you have a similar situation as I have had.

Re: Two Worries: Two questions

It seems we have yet another hernia following a DaVinci.
Gabe, I wouldn't get the other side done unless there was an actual hernia present. I asked my surgeon that same question when I had my hernia repaired. He said there is no need to do the other side. Having a hernia on one side does not increase the chances of it happening on the other.
