Re: bathroom issues

Going through the same problem now, 1 year after radiation. After the 2d trip to the ER the surgeon finally admitted the radiation has caused strictures which act exactly as you described. I felt it coming on for about 2 months before urine flow shut down completely. Currently doing daily self catherization and problem has eased up considerably. The burning
sensation has also disappeared and flow back to normal. If you don't get it checked soon, in all probability it will come to a screaching hault at the most inopportune time like mine did, always on a Saturday night.

Good Luck, Jack

Re: bathroom issues

A stricture is tissue that blocks urine flow in the urethra or bladder neck. It can be caused by either an irregular build up of living cells or in my case radio-necrotic sloughage (dead cells clumping up). A total stricture is life threatening since it will shut down the kidneys. If you find you can't pee, it's time to get to the ER without delay. The problem will most likely be remedied at that time with a catheter. - p (Alaska, USA)

Re: bathroom issues

To control and ease the urine flow, try this pranayam technique.Allow a few weeks to notice improvement.
Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after one minute.
Kapalbhati -(Do it before eating, or three hours after) Push air forcefully out through the nose about once per second. Stomach will itself go in(contract in). The breathing in(through the nose) will happen automatically. Establish a rhythm and do for 20 to 30 minutes twice a day.Seriously ill people do it gently.
Also press the little finger top with the thumb, on both hands, while doing this exercise. The little finger can be pressed by anyone needing to control urine, when bathroom is not available or within reach.
