Passing of the Torch

In recent weeks we have lost two good men to this dreaded disease; two mentors in this group who waged their war with courage, determination and valor. With courage because of the ever-present element of fear and dread; with determination because of the effort that is required to wage this war; and with valor because that is what it take to bring meaning to their fight. We can all learn from these men and their families as we read the comments that lay in the wake of their passing. Comments like “he was an amazing father, husband and friend”; “he fought with all he had”; and he “loved this group better than any.” The stakes are high with PCa and the challenge to each of us in this group of mentors is to remember those who have gone on before us and pick up their torch with the same courage, determination and valor.
