Robot Assisted Laparoscopic Prostatectomy

Having been very recently diagnosed with Prostate Cancer, I would be interested in talking to anyone who has had the RALP procedure done in London, Ontario Canada.

Re: Robot Assisted Laparoscopic Prostatectomy

You are not far from Buffalo. What about Roswell Park? I had my surgery done there by Dr Guru. So far so good.

Re: Robot Assisted Laparoscopic Prostatectomy

Hi Ron,

Thank you for that reference.

Yes, Roswell Park is close to me but surgery in Canada is covered by our Government Health Plan where in Buffalo it is not. As yet, I am still pondering various options and will make a decision on treatment soon.

Regards,
Bill

Re: Re: Robot Assisted Laparoscopic Prostatectomy

I had RPLP done on Dec 29th 2008. I was out of the hospital the next morning. Everything went as planned. The nerves were saved, incontince was not too bad. One thing that was not mentioned to me was the amount of pain I was in for the next 36 hours due to the gas pumped in your abdomen to help with the surgury. The gas dissappates very slowly. In all though I would do the same thing again, it is a relief knowing the cancer is gone.
