Re: The Age Old Question - Again

Good article Stranger.

There are a lot of stories on here from men with PSA's in the point something range (.4, 1.5, etc) and they're struck with the psychological fear of even possibly having cancer.

Most of these folks, as the article suggests, are being rushed into a decision making process that, quite frankly, probably shouldn't be happening.

At least I'm happy that continuing studies are being done so that someday, maybe not in our lifetime, all those questions can be answered.

Re: The Age Old Question - Again

Aloha,
I see this time & time again on the cancer.org web site. Most of my posts refer these people to yananow.net. I never know if it does any good. Have a good friend now considering RB surgery. I just wish he would wait and see.

Re: The Age Old Question - Again

My take on this is that we need: a better screening test - maybe PCA3 is that test - and less morbid treatments - maybe focal HIFU or cryo - accurate, reliable imaging makes both of these treatments way easier.

Given these, screen as early as you like - say 40 for anyone with any kind of risk factor - and get rid of the vast majority of PCa before it gets rolling.
