This forum is for the discussion of anything to do with Prostate Cancer.

So sorry to hear about your father, Grace.

By chance I was 'young' when I was diagnosed - I was 54 and that was in 1996, and my good doctors told me that i would probably live for three years - five if I was lucky. Well, that was twelve years ago and they're still using the three to five year warning, so that may be of some comfort to you.

I know it is difficult to catch your breat and start thinking rationally in the face of this kind of news, but you can help your Dad most by doing just that.

Go onto the site and read through the diagnosis page, especially the pieces on PSA, Gleason Score and staging and then come back to tell us what your Dad's "numbers" are. We can then focus on the specifics and you can also check out the stories of men with a similar diagnosis on the Mentors Experiences pages.
