Re: Radiation induced Colitis & Colon-rectal Cancer?

About three months after my seeding, my radiologist referred me for a colonoscopy. My rectum showed some damage from the EBRT and/or Brachy but not anything to be greatly concerned with. I did have many polyps removed(not treatment related) and am scheduled to go back for another colonoscopy next month. It was good that I went in as the polyps are trouble if not removed. Radiation has been shown to cause colo-rectal cancer in a small number of PCa cases! - p (Alaska, USA)

Re: Radiation induced Colitis & Colon-rectal Cancer?

Hi Joe,

Try not to let the gut trouble worry you too much. I had similar dark thoughts, like you, but after having a myriad of tests done, they proved I am absolutely clear of any type of intestinal cancer.

It's all down to the inflamation caused by radiotherapy.

By the way, since going 'wheat free' a couple of months ago I have felt a whole lot better and there are not nearly so many urgent dashes to the toilet.

Very Best Wishes,

George
