Re: Erection sensations after surgery

Carol,
Sorry to hear about your husband. It's very early to start thinking about erections. While some men get them soon after surgery, most do not get them back for months or years (if ever). Don't rush it. The Cialis will help maintain blood flow to promote healing. Give the urethra time to heal well and let the nerves come back in their good time. I had pain during that time of my recovery too. It is not uncommon. It's been 18 months for me and still no erections.

Carol:
I came across your E-Mail and wanted to comment to you about my situation. I too had the Da Vinci surgery on August 5th 08 and am now recovering. I got contro of my water in just a couple of days. But my penis hurt some like your husband's. I feel that some bad advice by a hospital nurse did some damage that now seems to be getting better. But it hurt like hell for several days. I am taking Viagra started with half tablets 25 mg now up to 50mg and they seem to help some.
I am told that it may take several months for all the damage to heal up. None of my nerves were cut but just the operation and working artound them does some minor damage and it takes time to heal up.How old is your husband ?Did he have problems with erections before the operation? Do you do your part to help him out? Did an experienced doctor do him that can really matter too. They gave me some ideas on what my wife should do.
Hope to hear how you two are doing

Re: Erection sensations after surgery

I had non-nerve sparing surgery 6 months ago. Of course this means no natural erections at all -- at least for now!

Soon after surgery, I started feeling a stirring in that area -- just like the start of an erection. Sometimes it happens in response to lustful thoughts and at other times non-lustful. Curious, I have inspected what is going on down there and I do actually see the slight stirring -- even in the testicles. This is different to what I see in response to Kegels -- that is more like a twitch.

I did not have the pains reported by your hubby, but think they would normal after having things poked up places not used to that kind of treatment!

As I said above, I have no natural erections. But recently, I have noticed some increase in length (no more than an inch) in response to vigorous manual stimulation. I hope a sign of things to come!

Re: Erection sensations after surgery

Carol,
Iam 47 years old and had the Da vinci on July 10th. My nerves were spared and I have had some movement down there but it will take most likely a year to heel. The ED pills will help with healing. Age will play a factor and if he was sexual active before the surgery also he will leak when sexually stimulated. Everytime I get frisky with my wife I can feel myself shoot a stream. When he can finally have sex he will need to empty his bladder. Like my doctor told my wife and I "will you on day be able to please your wife? yes, will it feel 100% the same no" Learn to cuddle and kiss more my wife loves it.

Keep positive,

Re: Erection sensations after surgery

Hi Carol,
I had nerve sparing Open RPP in March 08. My erections started 5 days later with catheter still in. I now enjoy 80% naturals and 110% erections!! with 10mg cialis. I will post a six month update with all the details soon.
Good luck to you both.
Bob
